Day 2:
Palila was still missing this morning, but she's come back now. I am excited to see whether she will lay her second egg.

Day 1:
About a week ago, I noticed that a bird had made a nest in my window. When I opened my blinds, the bird flew away, and I didn't see her again until yesterday. Csongor was standing guard over Palila as she lay an egg in the nest. Once the egg was lain, Palila flew away. According to my online research, she will lay a second egg approximately 44hrs after the first is lain. Once the second egg is in the nest, mom and dad will share the duty of incubating the eggs for the next 18-20 days.

Once Upon A Time...
There once was a pigeon named Csongor who desparately wished for a mate,
And so one day he went for a fly and landed at Nashville State.
For there was Palila upon a ledge preening her feathers and fluffing her tail.
A more beautiful bird, he never had seen, with eyes of bright red, and head of jade green, and body of perfect pastel.
And so he sent out his lover's call, Palila answering his cry.
There followed a whirlwind romance, the days just whizzing by.
Day by day, they gathered and flocked, carefully, cautiously building their nest.
Here in this blog, follows the rest...
